Lord Ganesha, Remover of Obstacles by Marie Bargas

Lord Ganesha the Hindu Elephant God who is "the Remover of Obstacles" is more than just a deity, He is my friend, my companion and my biggest personal champion. We have been together longer than my longest relationship. And He has been ever faithful, protective and extremely kind, I think in part because my antics amuse him ... and he is a God that likes to be amused.  Sadly, because of His overall jovial personality He is often dismissed , misunderstood and sometime misrepresented because some people underestimate His power, but believe me, there are consequences and they can be harsh.

Ganesha or Ganapati has  108 names altogether one for each of the 108 beads of the mala or Hindu rosary.  He is the son of Shiva the Destroyer God and his consort Parvati the Goddess of Love.  He is akin to Ellegua in that he is a "Road Opener." Legend has it that both Ganesha and Hanuman are in this dimension which is why they are more accessible. Many pagans mistakenly attach Ganesha to the planet Mercury when in fact Ganesha rules Ketu, the South Node of the moon. It is because that Ganesha rules Ketu (who essentially rules material loss) that He is outside of the sphere of planetary influence.  He cannot be stopped. Loss equates to the powerful ability to "remove" obstacles.

Concurrently,  Ketu also inspires enlightenment and spiritual liberation.   There is no pure "white light" in his workings as Ketu is both feared and revered,  so skip the metaphysical ramblings of the uninitiated and do some research. Ganesha rules the root or Muladhara chakra which connects him very deeply to the Earth element, but it can be said that he has power over all elements and all chakras. All in all Ganesha is far more complicated than we are led to believe and any serious practitioner of magick needs to refer directly to Hindu and not pagan sources in order to understand the depth and breadth of this deity.

A pagan author recently misrepresented the worship of Ganesha in a podcast and two weeks later his home was struck by lightning and burned to the ground.  The fact that Ganesha's father Shiva is the Destroyer and his brother Skanda is the Lord of War should certainly not be overlooked. But Ganesha has his own powers that are enhanced and supported by a very close knit family.

This candle is a hand made one of a kind candle. It is yellow in order to connect with the planet Mercury. Ganesha the friendly elephant God is the Hindu Remover of obstacles who rules the South Node of the Moon - Ketu and is therefore uninfluenced by the other planets. The Aum Vakra Tundaya Hum is a mantra used to invoke the powers of Ganesha to remove obstacles with the power of his mighty elephant's trunk. This candle is dressed with coconut oil and honey which are the traditional offerings to Ganesha. The glass holder can be used again and again as a decorative vase, incense holder, or a vessel from a removable candle.
